Creativity can transform the simplest materials into something meaningful and beautiful.
As part of the Orientation Programme 2026, the first-year B.Arch and B.Des students of the Faculty of Architecture, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, participated in an engaging Tissue Art Workshop that introduced them to a delicate yet expressive form of creative exploration.
Using simple tissue materials, students experimented with textures, colours, layering, composition, and craftsmanship to create vibrant and imaginative artworks. The hands-on activity provided them with an opportunity to explore different techniques while expressing their individual ideas through visual compositions.
Beyond the creative process, the workshop encouraged students to develop patience, attention to detail, and an appreciation for craftsmanship. Working layer by layer, they experienced how small elements can come together to create a larger visual expression—an approach that closely connects with the principles of design and architecture.
The activity also created a collaborative and enjoyable environment where students could share ideas, experiment freely, and discover new ways of approaching creative challenges. It encouraged them to look at everyday materials from a fresh perspective and understand their potential for artistic expression.
