The Civil Engineering Department executives, staff, and students of Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute visited the Open House organized by the Faculty of Architecture (FOA) – Dr. MGR ERI, gaining valuable insight into the creative and technical processes behind architectural design.
At the exhibition, visitors explored an extensive display of concept sheets, design panels, working drawings, structural diagrams, models, and graphical visualizations—each showcasing the evolution of architectural ideas from initial sketches to complete design solutions. The event emphasized how architects thoughtfully integrate site conditions, climate considerations, user needs, materials, and spatial planning to shape functional and aesthetically refined built environments.
Civil Engineering students particularly benefited from understanding the strong relationship between architectural vision and structural practicality. The curated displays illustrated how conceptual designs transition into buildable forms through detailed drawings, structural documentation, and technical coordination. Interactions during the visit reinforced the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between architects and civil engineers in achieving safe, efficient, and innovative construction outcomes.
The Open House provided a meaningful and enriching learning experience, offering attendees a deeper appreciation of the synergy between design and engineering—an essential foundation for future professionals in the built environment.
