Our 1st year B.Arch students explored the fundamentals of scale and proportion through an immersive charcoal art session as part of their academic curriculum. This exercise introduced them to the human figure in large scale, encouraging them to study posture, balance, and anatomical relationships with greater clarity.
Working with charcoal allowed students to translate their observations into bold, expressive strokes, sharpening their ability to capture depth, movement, and form. The session not only strengthened their visual and artistic skills but also deepened their understanding of how the human body influences spatial design.
This hands-on activity served as a meaningful bridge between art and architecture, helping students appreciate the importance of human scale and proportion in design thinking. It was a beautiful blend of creativity, exploration, and foundational learning—setting the stage for stronger architectural sensibilities as they progress in their academic journey.
