The Faculty of Architecture, Dr. M.G.R. University, recently hosted an engaging session on “Resilient Urban Climate” by Dr. Faiz Ahmed from SPA Vijayawada. The talk shed light on how the diversity of urban surfaces influences local climates, shaping the way we design and experience our cities.
Students were introduced to the significance of microclimate modeling through advanced tools such as ENVI-met, GIS, and remote sensing. Dr. Ahmed emphasized how these techniques empower architects and planners to understand complex environmental interactions and design more sustainable urban spaces.
The session underscored the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in tackling climate challenges, offering practical insights into building thermally comfortable and resilient cities. It was a thought-provoking experience that equipped our students with knowledge that extends well beyond the classroom.
